Lisa Williams began her career as a high school English and Journalism teacher. Throughout her more than two decades in the classroom, she shared the joy (and sometimes, the pain) of reading and writing with more than 3,000 students. After leaving public education, Lisa began a second career in nonprofit fundraising, and she joined the CFLC team as the Development Director in 2026.

She is passionate about literacy and learning, as she herself is a lifelong learner. Lisa holds a B.S. in English and Secondary Education from Cumberland College and an M.Ed. in Secondary Guidance Counseling and an M.A. in English from Western Kentucky University. An avid reader and writer, Lisa has had several poems, essays, and articles published throughout her career. Her most recent work, Soil, Stone, and Soul, is a book-length genealogy tracing her mother’s family origins to before immigration to the United States.

When she is not at a desk, Lisa enjoys time at the beach with her family, riding her bike, and puttering around in the yard.
