Cape Fear Literacy Council’s annual Luncheon for Literacy is Tuesday, April 18, 2023, featuring author Celia Rivenbark as the guest speaker. Don’t miss our most important event of the year!

The luncheon helps CFLC raise awareness of our community’s evolving literacy needs and provides crucial support for adult learners in the Cape Fear region. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Council’s literacy and language programs, keeping them free for our students.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Celia Rivenbark

North Carolina native and columnist Celia Rivenbark has published seven collections of her comedic writings. A long-time friend of Cape Fear Literacy Council, Celia created the Spelling Bee fundraiser, a beloved event for 30 years.

“Humorist and journalist Celia Rivenbark is best known for her three collections of syndicated columns and essays based on the writing she has done for the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sun News: Bless Your Heart, Tramp; We’re Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions of a Tarnished Southern Belle; and Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank: And Other Words of Delicate Southern Wisdom.
