From poetry and fiction to memoirs and mythology, the written word has the power to spark our imaginations in ways unique to every individual. We invite you to explore the visual representation of our favorite Words of Inspiration in this upcoming community exhibit.

The works will be on display at ACME Arts at 711 N. 5th Ave in the beautiful Brooklyn Arts District of downtown Wilmington. Opening reception is Friday, July 25, 2025 from 6-9 pm.

As guests experience the artwork, they are encouraged to reflect on the profound significance of words, language, and comprehension—considering how the ability to read shapes our understanding of the world around us. The absence of this fundamental skill can deeply affect one’s connection to ideas, stories, and even basic communication, reminding us of the importance of supporting literacy for all.

“Words of Inspiration” aims to explore the diverse ways in which literature and language can inspire visual expression, highlighting the emotional and intellectual impact that written words have on our lives.
In addition to showcasing these powerful visual interpretations, the show will raise awareness about the importance of literacy and will support Cape Fear Literacy Council, a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy in our community for over 40 years. Your work will contribute to both the celebration of visual expression and the advancement of a vital cause.
