Cape Fear Literacy Council at the Wilmington St. Patrick’s Day Festival & Parade

Please join Cape Fear Literacy Council in celebrating a new partnership with the Wilmington St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. The Committee host the 21st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival on March 14, 2020, in downtown Wilmington. Cape Fear Literacy Council will be the Parade’s charity partner.

Yasmin Tomkinson, Executive Director of CFLC, commented that CFLC is excited to partner with the Committee in celebrating traditional St. Patrick’s Day activities in Wilmington while raising awareness of CFLC’s mission in the Cape Fear area. Joe Costy, spokesperson for the Committee, stated that the appointment of CFLC as the Parade partner represents the continuing efforts of the Cape Fear Irish-American community to work with local community service groups, expand its visibility and outreach in the region, and recognize the values of education and service.

The Committee annually organizes the Parade which has been described as one of the Top 10 St. Patrick’s Day Parades in small cities in America. After the Parade ends, the Downtown Wilmington St. Patrick’s Day Festival (Festival) commences with music, food and activities for the entire family.  In addition to the Parade, the Committee organizes an Annual Irish Music Night, with live traditional Irish music and dancers at Waterline Brewing Co. (721 Surry St.) on February 15th.
