Literacy Council luncheon worked, Spelling Bee up next

WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Literacy Council celebrates the success of its seventh annual Literacy Luncheon held June 2.
The even raised more than $50,000 for the organization while educating nearly 300 community members about the importance of the nonprofit’s mission: to provide personalized education so adults can transform their lives and contribute to a stronger local community.
The council will hold the 29th annual Spelling Bee for Literacy at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at The Terraces on Sir Tyler, 1826 Sir Tyler Drive. Admission is free. There will be light refreshments, a cash bar, and team and audience prizes.
