The origin of the MGC Parade Mile is a pretty simple one. Local attorney Walt Rapp wanted to do something positive in the community that would help his children understand the importance of giving back.
Rapp reached out to Tom Clifford of Without Limits and Colin Hackman of Go Time. The three came up with the idea of having a competitive 1-mile race with proceeds from the event going to a local nonprofit organization.
Approximately $10,000 was raised for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity during last year’s inaugural race. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Cape Fear Literacy Council.
