Cape Fear Literacy Council receives two grants totaling $35,000
WILMINGTON | The Cape Fear Literacy Council recently received two challenge grants – totaling $35,000 – for CFLC’s “Raising the Roof” building renovation project. Twenty-five thousand dollars was received from an anonymous donor, through the New Hanover County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the N.C. Community Foundation. The second challenge grant of $10,000 has been committed by George Huffmon and Atlantic Neurosurgical & Spine Specialists, P.A.The renovation project expands the council’s teaching facility by 75 percent, at an estimated cost of $208,200. The two donors hope the challenges will inspire others to donate to the project.Eligible gifts include donations of cash and stock from individuals, families, corporations, foundations or other charitable entities; and the challenges remain in effect for one year.For more information, visit www.cfliteracy.org.
